Federico Chiesa would be willing to take a wage cut to finally leave Liverpool. The Italian winger only signed for the Reds in 2024 for a cut-price £12.5million.
But he has endured a frustrating time of things on Merseyside. Injuries have limited the 28-year-old to just 35 appearances in all competitions, only eight of those coming as starts.
There have regularly been rumours that Chiesa could look to quit Anfield, the Italian linked with an exit in the summer, albeit Liverpool managed to hold onto his services. He could however finally be on the way out over the coming weeks.
Juventus are interested in taking the winger back to Italy and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Chiesa would be willing to take a major wage cut in order to facilitate a move back to Turin.
That could potentially help Juventus meet Liverpool’s demand for a permanent move or indeed see them stump up a higher loan fee, as well as a more attractive package when it comes to an obligation to buy clause.
Talks have reportedly been ongoing throughout the January transfer window, with Liverpool wanting to receive around what they paid for the winger. Asked about Chiesa, Juventus boss Luciano Spaletti said: “He was in my team at the time (the Italian national team). It was a compliment I wanted to give him.
“Sinner is one of the strongest for consistency and perseverance. Chiesa, on the other hand, for his strikes: he’s a player of big numbers, who beats his man and creates chaos.

“The quality is very high, but I will only say this because he’s with another team now and he’s no longer ours.”
On his wishes for January incomings, the Italian added: “I didn’t ask for anything, especially in midfield — I’m happy with the midfielders I have. The market creates opportunities for strong players, but it also creates distracted players. If we stay as we are, I’m perfectly fine with that.
“In some areas, we need to complete the squad. In a couple of positions, we’re a bit short. The market is handled by our directors: the CEO and the sporting director. They’re the ones doing the work, and I trust them completely. We’re keeping our ears open to see if we can fill the boxes and have dual options.”
Chiesa’s contract with Liverpool is set to run until the summer of 2028. His chances of first-team football with the club could drop even further later this month once Mohamed Salah returns from the African Cup of Nations.
