Report: Chelsea owners to grant Liam Rosenior one thing they denied Enzo Maresca

The Chelsea owners have a lot to learn from what happened with Enzo Maresca, but things are going in the right direction so far with Liam Rosenior.

Chelsea got off to the best possible start against Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup third round, securing an emphatic 5-1 win in Liam Rosenior‘s first game in charge.

But the real challenge is tonight against Arsenal in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. The Blues will be desperate to avoid Newcastle United’s performance in the first semi-final, as Manchester City now head into the return fixture with a two-goal lead.

Ahead of the match, all eyes are on whether Reece James and Cole Palmer will be fit enough to play a part against the Gunners, with Liam Rosenior providing an update.

Interestingly, Palmer was missing from Chelsea training, which doesn’t bode well.

Off the field, though, things seem more positive.

Chelsea owners to give Liam Rosenior a voice at Stamford Bridge

Enzo Maresca left Chelsea after reaching a mutual agreement with the club. This was very much influenced by disagreements behind the scenes, which were believed to be mainly involving the medical department and going against their advice.

Since Rosenior’s arrival, it appears as if the owners are open to change.

According to the BBC, Insiders insist Chelsea’s strategy will remain similar, although Liam Rosenior’s voice will now be part of the discussion after Enzo Maresca’s falling out with the hierarchy led to his unplanned mid-season exit.

A PR stunt from the Chelsea owners

It’s highly unlikely that the Chelsea owners have learnt from the Maresca issue already.

Rosenior is a man they know very well from his time at Strasbourg. He will have already experienced exactly what the owners are like and how they like to run things, so bringing him to Chelsea allows them to still dictate what happens, as opposed to bringing in a fresh face.

The fact that Maresca never got a voice to speak and have his own way at Chelsea is terrible. He brought the club success with the Club World Cup and the UEFA Conference League, so the least the owners could do is back him and let him control things how he desires.
