Michelle Agyemang returns to Arsenal as loan spell with Albion ends

Michelle Agyemang’s second loan stint with [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/?ref=au) is officially over.

The England striker has returned to parent club Arsenal after suffering a serious knee injury.

Agyemang suffered the injury while playing for her country but has remained close to the Albion set-up.

She has been spotted watching the side in WSL action despite being sidelined.

Albion are widely expected to strengthen in attack during the current transfer window although they have not made a move as yet.

They returned to action after the winter break on Sunday with a 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa.

Nottingham Forest visit the Broadfield Stadium on Sunday in the FA Cup.

Agyemang had made a positive start to the season, including a goal to beat Everton in the WSL, when injury struck.

Albion head coach Dario Vidosic said: “It was a real privilege to welcome Michelle back in the summer and work with her for another season.

“Naturally, we’re disappointed that her second loan spell with the club has come to an end, but her rehab and mental wellbeing must remain the priority.

“For someone so young, her talent on the pitch and her strength of character off it are truly remarkable.

“She has been a leader within our squad, and we’re confident she’ll be back on the pitch very soon.

“Michelle has the full support of everyone at Brighton during her recovery, and she will always have a place here at the club.”

Managing director Zoe Johnson added: “We’ll continue to keep in contact with Arsenal and support Michelle and her family during her recovery. Everyone at Brighton is behind her during this journey."
