Derby County have ‘expressed interest’ in Chelsea’s David Datro Fofana who is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano who has named the Rams of one of three clubs interested in a January transfer as the Blues work on a permanent exit.
Derby, Scottish champions Celtic and Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp are the others claimed to be keen on the striker who signed a pre-contract agreement to move to Chelsea while at Molde in 2023.
He made the switch to west London three years ago but has managed only four appearances in that time and none since March 2023.
Instead he has been on loan with Union Berlin, Burnley and Göztepe.
Last season his time with the Turkish outfit ended early as he was recalled following at injury in February 2025.
He has spent this season with fellow Super Lig side Fatih Karagümrük and he has scored five times in 12 league games.
He scored four in 15 Premier League games during half a season on loan with Burnley in the spring of 2024.
The 22-year-old is in limbo at Chelea having been ostracised by former boss Enzo Maresca. He has a contract at Chelsea until 2029.
The Rams have been missing talisman Carlton Morris since he went down injured in November and he could miss several more weeks yet.
Lars Jorgen Salvesen and Rhian Brewster are other options up front. Derby's goal-scoring has been shared around between Ben Brereton-Diaz and Patrick Agyemang, with Kayden Jackson also available.
