Chris Paul Gets Honest on What's Next After Shocking Clippers Split

Chris Paul's final run with the Los Angeles Clippers ended on an unexpected note.

After suiting up for 16 games, Paul was sent home in the middle of a road trip. The Clippers no longer felt he needed to be around the team, leaving the 21-year veteran questioning his future in the midst of his retirement tour.

It's been some time since Paul has spoken out on his plans. During a recent sit-down with Good Sports hosts Kevin Hart and Keenan Thompson, Paul made it clear that while he is staying ready, his next move isn't decided.

"I'm working out and training every day," Paul said.

"In all honesty, with the way that stuff went down, for me, I just love this game so much that I don't want it to end like that. I've enjoyed the time, for sure. I get a chance to go to my kids' games, but I don't know what team I hope to finish with."

Paul isn't in a position to sign with just anybody. Although he's away from the Clippers, he's still on the team's roster. For the time being, the Clippers would have to trade Paul. If they don't before the deadline, he could get waived, allowing him to be a free agent.

At this point in his career, Paul will be picky with his next destination. He's 40 and planning to hang it up soon. The idea of moving back to Los Angeles to be close to his family is what attracted Paul to the Clippers.

There are other teams in California he could consider, but the level of interest seems low. The Los Angeles Lakers make sense, but they reportedly didn't consider adding Paul. A reunion with the Golden State Warriors didn't gain traction, and the struggling Sacramento Kings don't make sense.

Paul hasn't revealed how far he's willing to relocate at this point, but it's assumed he'll want a role on a contender-hopeful. The future Hall of Famer has accomplished a ton, but he's still in search of a title win. Soon, the NBA world will find out his next move.
