The Chicago Bulls have tried very hard to compete for playoff spots in the last few years. Yet, they have not built the roster with great players. The current roster has only been good enough to see the team win enough games to make the play-in.

Right now, Chicago sits 10th in the Eastern Conference standings. They would once again be in the play-in if the season ended today. Bulls fans are tired of the team being stuck in the middle, and they have been pleading for the team to either get a lot better or worse.

A crazy trade idea from Bleacher Report would see them go for broke by trading for Anthony Davis in a desperate pursuit to make the playoffs.

Chicago Bulls Make Bold Playoff Push With Anthony Davis Trade Proposal

Here is the full trade proposal:

Mavericks get: Nikola Vučević, Patrick Williams, Jevon Carter, and first-round picks swaps in 2031 and 2032 for Anthony Davis

Bulls get: Anthony Davis

Shipping Vucevic would mean that Davis would have to play center for the Bulls, a position he despises. It would also shed an older player who is on the decline for someone younger with higher upside, even with Davis’ extensive injury history.

Williams has not been worth the contract extension he signed, even if he’s a decent defensive player. Finding a way to include him in this trade would be ideal for the Bulls. The two first-round pick swaps are reasonable, since the Bulls likely wouldn’t be a lottery team with Davis on the roster.

This is more likely the kind of trade that the Bulls are considering than one that would see them start a rebuild. The organization is obsessed with trying to compete just enough to keep fans interested, and adding Davis would signal that they are trying to win big.

The Bulls Could go Either Way at the Trade Deadline

Chicago could truly go either way at the deadline. Right now, they have the ninth-worst offense in the NBA. That would seem to indicate that they should blow it up and start a rebuild. The Bulls also want to try to compete enough to make the playoffs.

No one around the league seems to know what the Bulls are going to do at the trade deadline. What they do could influence how other teams around the league approach the deadline. Even if they don’t add a massive superstar like Davis, Chicago is still worth watching next month.

Davis’ injury doesn’t seem to dissuade teams from trading for him. It might lessen his value, which would actually be more attractive for teams that are interested in him. If the Bulls were to trade for him, Davis would be returning to where he grew up.

This trade deadline will dictate which direction the organization is trying to go for the foreseeable future.
