Liverpool Join Man City And Arsenal In Pursuing Defender Who Was Given His Debut By Arne Slot

Liverpool are keeping tabs on Feyenoord fullback Givairo Read, according to reports.

The Reds are currently weighing up whether to delve into the transfer market after it was confirmed that Conor Bradley has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

TEAMtalk claims Read is a player who is being watched. Head coach Arne Slot already knows him well. He was signed from FC Volendam under the Dutchman’s management in the summer of 2023.

Despite still only being 17, Slot handed the defender his club debut against Roma in the Europa League knockout round just under two years ago. Since then, he has established himself as Feyenoord’s first-choice right-back.

Liverpool are not the only Premier League club interested

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported in November that Read was on the radar of Manchester City, while other sources have mentioned Arsenal as a potential suitor.

In addition to English teams, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have been credited with an interest as well. Asked about those links late last year, Read said:

“My teammates make jokes about Bayern Munich, suddenly speak German to me and so on, which is funny, but it doesn’t distract me.”

Read is not the only right-back target

TEAMtalk report that Liverpool are aware of the availability of Monaco’s Vanderson, while Benfica’s Daniel Banjaqui is another player under consideration.

Many fans believe that heading into the second half of the season with Jeremie Frimpong and Joe Gomez as the only options on the right-hand side of defence would prove to be disastrous.

The pair have struggled to stay fit in recent months, and there is a distinct possibility that Dominik Szoboszlai would have to fill in at some point in the coming weeks unless a signing is brought in.
