Matt Law shares what the'biggest change'at the Chelsea training ground will be after Liam Rosenior is hired

Liam Rosenior now has his first week as Chelsea manager under his belt, and it is so far, so good for the new man in charge.

Rosenior helped navigate the Blues through the third round of the FA Cup against Charlton, but now faces the far more difficult task of taking on Arsenal in the EFL Cup semi-finals.

The new manager is going to be up against it. It looks as if both Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto are going to be absent from the squad after missing recent training sessions.

However, Rosenior would have had an opportunity to work with his new players and staff for a number of sessions, working out who is going to be of use to him for the rest of the season.

Chelsea staff set for big changes in training with Liam Rosenior in charge

Matt Law believes the biggest changes on the training ground will actually be for the staff, given the fact that the environment had become stressful in the final weeks of Enzo Maresca’s time in charge.

He told the ‘London is Blue’ podcast: “They’re unbelievably fluid (the players). I think probably the biggest change around Cobham will be around the staff as much as the players. I think it was a stressful environment in the last weeks to months of Maresca.

“It had been clear for some time that there were tensions. You know, some of it was made public through press conferences, even before the Everton press conference. And I think it was a tense, stressful environment for staff more than players, knowing that there was something probably coming down the line.

“And with the fact that Maresca and his style and communication skills weren’t always the easiest to decipher. So people were left guessing quite a lot on quite a lot of things. So I think from that perspective, it will relieve some of the stress for sure.”

Enzo Maresca situation turned ugly

Reports since the sacking of Maresca have not painted the Italian in a great light following his final few weeks in charge of Chelsea.

The Blues were not happy with the way he dealt with injured players, a prospect that was always on the cards following their participation in the Club World Cup.

Chelsea had a member of the medical team in the dugout during his final games in charge due to worries over injured players, which is now Rosenior’s mess to clear up.

In truth, it is one of the new manager’s biggest jobs to get the likes of Palmer back to full fitness and firing for Chelsea again.
