Chelsea Could Hurt Man City As £35m January Swap Deal Emerges With Crystal Palace

Chelsea could offer Crystal Palace a swap deal for Marc Guehi, in order to solve their current issues at centre-back.

Liam Rosenior will be focused on Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal on Wednesday night, hoping to give his side the advantage heading into the second-leg at the Emirates in early February.

Before the second leg, though, Rosenior will hope that the higher-ups at Chelsea provide him with a couple of new signings to boost their chances. Most would agree that Chelsea requires a centre-back, with Levi Colwill out for the rest of the season, and the likes of Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana have been struggling for form.

Marc Guehi in talks over joining Man City

Marc Guehi has been mentioned as a potential transfer target for Chelsea, as he knows the club, and would certainly help to solve their issues at centre-back. It is understood that he is expected to cost around £35m in the January window, with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.

“Talks have taken place in the last few days with Crystal Palace. Palace are open to a sale on the right terms, the high asking price is down to the need to fund a replacement.”

Chelsea could offer Disasi for Guehi in January

Axel Disasi’s future at Chelsea is currently very uncertain, as he went out on loan to Aston Villa during the second half of last season. The Blues didn’t sell him in the summer, and he’s available yet again.

Disasi could be a fantastic replacement for Guehi at Palace, as he is younger, but still has Premier league experience. So, instead of Palace trying to find a replacement in the remainder of January, Chelsea could offer Disasi to try and persuade the Eagles to accept their offer rather than Man City’s.

It would for one, hurt City, but also would provide Rosenior with an experienced, solid Premier League centre-back, something the Blues are crying out for.
