Report: What Arsenal sources are now saying about Ethan Nwaneri as Everton lurk

Everton are hoping to sign Ethan Nwaneri this winter.

The England U21 international has struggled for action under Mikel Arteta so far this season despite his exceptional talent, making just six Premier League appearances for Arsenal – none of which have come as starts.

It was Ben Jacobs who revealed that Everton like Nwaneri – who is also being monitored by West Ham and Fulham.

Now, an update has been provided from Football London on how Arsenal feel about interest in the 18-year-old as Everton circle.

Arsenal reluctant to lose Ethan Nwaneri and feel Everton target might be needed

Despite giving the teenager just 165 minutes of Premier League action this season, Arteta is said to be against sending him away from the Emirates Stadium.

Everton fans, would you back a move for Ethan Nwaneri this month? 🤔

Football London say interest in Nwaneri this winter has progressed “nowhere” as Arsenal believe a loan is not essential and is not something they consider to be a priority this month.

There is said to be an “internal belief” at the Emirates Stadium that every fringe player will be required at some stage with Arsenal still competing in all four competitions.

Arsenal also believe Nwaneri is still developing despite a lack of playing time – due to the fact he is training alongside two excellent attacking midfielders in Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze on a daily basis.

Football London do not directly mention Everton, but it is said that West Ham failed to make any progress despite speaking to both Arsenal and Nwaneri’s representatives, which does not bode well for the Toffees.

Arsenal should make bold loan enquiry for a different Arsenal player in Myles Lewis-Skelly

It will be tough to convince Arteta given his clear stance on fringe players, but Everton could potentially convince Myles Lewis-Skelly himself to move to Merseyside on loan.

David Moyes wants a new left-back this month, and as the World Cup looms, the Arsenal No.49 has fallen out of favour due to the sheer volume of defensive additions Arsenal have made.

If you were David Moyes, which three players would you want to sign in January?

The 19-year-old has only made one Premier League start as Arteta prefers the likes of Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie, and has already been warned by Thomas Tuchel that he needs to play regularly if he wants to go to the United States this summer.

The German said in the middle of November: “Myles simply needs more starts, more minutes.”

Therefore, Everton might have more of a chance at signing Lewis-Skelly on loan than Nwaneri this winter.
