Image for Bayern Munich tell Marc Guehi: ‘Do not sign for anyone else’
Bayern Munich have told long-standing Liverpool transfer interest Marc Guehi not to join them, or anyone else as their hopes of landing the Englishman remain.
Liverpool are in dire need of defensive reinforcements despite their £440m summer transfer spend.
The resulting poor form is no doubt a factor, at least in part, in Fenway Sports Group’s decision over whether or not to greenlight any signings this month.
As things stand, Liverpool are unlikely to make any January signings, and with the recent improvement in form, it’s actually arguable that it’s not entirely necessary to steady the ship.
That, however, is contingent on how lucky Liverpool are with injuries for the rest of the season.
Bayern Munich tell Marc Guehi not to sign for anyone else
Liverpool are the most highly linked of Guehi’s suitors but Manchester City and Bayern Munich are not out of the race.
Reportedly, Bayern Munich have been urging the Crystal Palace captain to not sign for anyone else.
With news that Liverpool won’t be making any signings this month, it would appear that the likes of Man City and Bayern are set to be in the race for at least another five months.
Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol reports: “I think what Bayern Munich have been saying to him is Marc please do not sign for anyone else now. Wait, hold on. And we will take you in the summer. This is going to be an incredible opportunity for you to join one of the biggest clubs in the world.
The only issue for Bayern Munich is that Manchester City want him as well.
“Liverpool want him as well. And of course Arsenal potentially want him as well in the summer.”
Liverpool would be disappointed to lose Marc Guehi after Deadline Day near-miss
After Guehi nearly joined the Reds, it would be a real pity to see him go anywhere else.
Especially, when Liverpool so dearly need a new central defender. Ibrahima Konate’s future at Liverpool is uncertain and Joe Gomez is unreliable unfortunately.
That leaves Virgil van Dijk as the only committed and injury-free defender Liverpool have. Giovanni Leoni’s injury wouldn’t have been such a big deal if Liverpool had signed Guehi.
Hopefully Liverpool sign him in the summer if claims are true amid reports that Liverpool will not make any January 2026 transfers.
