Premier League champions Liverpool carry an 11-game unbeaten run across all competitions into Saturday’s clash with winless Burnley at Anfield.
Despite the streak, recent league form has been patchy, with draws against Leeds (0-0), Fulham (2-2), and Arsenal (0-0). Arne Slot will be encouraged by strong performances from Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
However, Liverpool face defensive concerns after Conor Bradley underwent season-ending knee surgery. The right-back thanked fans for their support following the injury sustained late in the Arsenal game at the Emirates Stadium.
Posting on Instagram on Wednesday, Bradley wrote: “A big blow but surgery is done so the comeback starts now. “It won’t be for a little while but I already can’t wait to get back playing for Liverpool FC and Northern Ireland. Thanks for all the support.”
Scott Parker’s Burnley have drawn against Bournemouth, Everton, and Manchester United in recent weeks, with those three points their only positive league result since November.
The Clarets are now 12 Premier League games without a win and will look to last weekend’s 5-1 FA Cup victory over Millwall to boost confidence in their survival battle. Burnley sit eight points behind 17th-place Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool have lost just one of their nine Premier League home games against Burnley (W6 D2), with that defeat coming in January 2021. Burnley have also lost their last six league meetings with Liverpool by an aggregate score of 12-1 since their last win at Anfield.
