Arsenal enquire about Brazilian youngster

Arsenal defeated London rivals Chelsea 3-2 in a thrilling Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Wednesday evening.

The visitors went ahead at Stamford Bridge courtesy of Ben White, before striker Viktor Gyokeres doubled their lead shortly after the break.

Alejandro Garnacho then pulled one back for the hosts, but Martin Zubimendi added a third for Arsenal to restore their two-goal lead.

Former Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho then grabbed his second to halve the deficit, but Liam Rosenior’s first home match in charge of the Blues ultimately ended in defeat and Arsenal take a slender advantage into the second leg in February.

In the meantime, it has emerged that the north London giants have made contact about a possible deal for a Brazilian starlet.

As per TNT Sports, via The Mirror, the Gunners have asked about Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon, 20.

The young midfielder has made more than 100 appearances for the Brazilian side at senior level, having graduated from their academy setup.

Last term the young midfielder featured in 33 Serie A matches for Corinthians, scoring once and providing one assist.

It is claimed that Arsenal have made contact with Bidon’s representatives, Dodici Sports, to gauge the likelihood of agreeing a deal for the player in the near future.

Bidon is currently contracted to Corinthians until the end of 2029, but the report suggests that the youngster is increasingly attracting interest from top clubs in Europe.

Arsenal are said to have joined Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United in showing interest in the Brazilian, who has represented his country at Under-20 level.

Arsenal have recruited in midfield over the past two years, with Spaniards Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi arriving at The Emirates since the start of 2024.
