Brooklyn Nets' preferred assets from Warriors in Michael Porter Jr. trade revealed

The Nets are reportedly looking to acquire the 2026 and 2028 first-round assets of the Dubs in a potential MPJ trade.

The Golden State Warriors are stuck in mediocrity and have been unable to overcome the hump as the second half of the 2025-26 season approaches. They are currently 22-19 and sitting in the 8th spot of the Western Conference.

Out of this, they are one of the key few teams to watch heading to the Feb. 5 trade deadline.

One player being linked to the Dubs has been Michael Porter Jr., who is putting up an All-Star season this year by averaging 25.9 points, 7.5 boards and 3.4 assists with nearly 50 percent efficiency from the field.

In a potential Porter Jr. trade, the Brooklyn Nets are reportedly coveting the 2026 and 2028 first-round assets of the Warriors, according to Evan Sidery of Forbes.

"In continued trade discussions on Michael Porter Jr., the belief is the Nets are seeking two first-round picks in 2026 and 2028 from the Warriors in their package," Sidery wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"Golden State can match salaries with Brooklyn by including Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and Buddy Hield."

Out of their rebuild situation, the Nets are expected to make the most out of the hot market interest in Porter Jr.

Yet amid trade rumors, there were speculations that Brooklyn might keep their star forward at least until the NBA Draft Day this upcoming offseason.

Regardless, it all comes down to how the Warriors can construct the best possible package they can get for Porter Jr. and ultimately convince the Nets to pull the trigger.
