Liam Rosenior releases Robert Sanchez statement after Chelsea blunders vs Arsenal

Chelsea will be disappointed with their performance against Arsenal, as two mistakes gifted two goals to the Gunners.

Liam Rosenior shocked everyone by turning to Marc Guiu when the starting XI was announced for the Carabao Cup semi-final.

It didn’t really work out for the young striker, as he failed to hold the ball up and just couldn’t get into the game, and he even ended up with fewer touches than Robert Sanchez.

Who was Chelsea’s biggest disappointment on the night? 😡

Some terrible performances on such a big night…

Marc Cucurella left little to be desired too, constantly getting dominated by Bukayo Saka and his ill discipline was still on show.

It’ll be interesting to see what Rosenior chooses to do at left-back and with his goalkeepers against Brentford.

Liam Rosenior shows his support for Robert Sanchez

Robert Sanchez has largely improved this season, but he seemed to be back to his old self with the nerviness at the back and those two mistakes.

However, it seems as if Rosenior is still fully behind the goalkeeper.

Speaking after the loss to Arsenal, the Chelsea boss had this to say on Sanchez.

“I asked him [Robert Sanchez] for different things, it takes time to understand. Rob is a very good goalkeeper, made an outstanding save at 3-1 to keep us in the tie.

“When my players make mistakes, I’m accountable. He made a save in the second-half that was absolutely world-class. That would have put us out of the tie.”

Enzo Maresca’s shock exit is going to impact Robert Sanchez the most. Agree or disagree? And which other Chelsea players are in danger?

He's had a very shaky start to the Arsenal game…

On the goals, Rosenior couldn’t hide his disappointment.

“Disappointed to concede from a corner, the third goal as well – we were back in the game and on top. We switched off.”
