Cleveland Cavaliers wing De’Andre Hunter’s name is an easy trade target. The Cavs are over the second apron, their roster needs a shakeup, and Hunter has been struggling. That, combined with Hunter clearing his Instagram of any mention of the Cavs, would lead you to believe that he’s someone who could be on the move.
“I haven’t said a word about nothing to nobody,” Hunter told cleveland.com. “Not about wanting to be traded. Not about nothing. When I saw the article, I was just as surprised as you probably were.”
The Cavs have the most expensive roster in the league and are the only team above the second apron. Given their disappointing first half of the season and Hunter’s struggles, it would make sense to move a player like him to get under the second apron so that they’re in a better position to retool in the offseason.
We’ll see what moves, if any, the Cavs and their front office make ahead of the Feb. 5 deadline.
Hunter is averaging 13.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game on .425/.303/.875 shooting splits in 36 games with the Cavs.
