Knicks get encouraging news on Jalen Brunson ankle injury after Kings clash

Per James L. Edwards of The Athletic, Brunson (ankle) walked out of the locker room without a boot or crutches following the Knicks' loss against the Kings.

New York Knicks fans can at least take a sigh of relief for now regarding Jalen Brunson.

Brunson, who took an early exit in the Knicks' 112-101 Wednesday loss in Sacramento against the Kings due to a right ankle sprain, was seen not having a walking boot or using crutches as he left the locker room (h/t The Athletic's James L. Edwards).

Brunson sustained the injury in just five minutes of the first quarter on a non-contact play where his ankle appeared to have tweaked. He was initially listed as questionable to return, but the Knicks later ruled him out at halftime.

He scored four points in five minutes before leaving.

Head coach Mike Brown didn't provide any comment or update about Brunson's condition. It remains to be seen if the Knicks superstar will play on Thursday in San Francisco against the Golden State Warriors for the second night of their back-to-back slate.

Brunson is averaging a career-high 28.9 points along with 6.3 assists and 3.3 boards this season, leading the Knicks to a 25-15 record so far as the No. 2 team in the East standings.
