Daniel Gafford joins Cooper Flagg on injury list after ankle scare

Dallas Mavericks suffered a tough night as Daniel Gafford left the game with a right ankle sprain, shortly after Cooper Flagg also exited with an ankle injury.

The Dallas Mavericks were dealt another injury setback on Wednesday night, with Daniel Gafford forced to leave the game against the Denver Nuggets after suffering an ankle issue.

According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Gafford sustained a right ankle sprain and did not return for the rest of the night.

The center went down shortly after Cooper Flagg had already exited with his own ankle injury, leaving Dallas thin in the frontcourt.

Before getting hurt, Gafford played 18 minutes and made his presence felt inside. He finished with 6 points and 10 rebounds, battling on the glass and providing rim protection until the injury cut his night short.

With Gafford sidelined, the Mavericks struggled to match Denver's size and physical play in the paint. The Nuggets slowly took control and pulled away late, handing Dallas a 118-109 loss at American Airlines Arena.
