Controversy continues to follow Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies as the two parties reach the end of their run together. Morant is on the trade block and expected to be moved by Memphis before the trade deadline. However, the health of Morant improving sees him taking part in practice and hoping to return to the court for a team trying to trade him.

Video leaked from practice in Berlin with Morant and teammate Vince Williams having an intense argument. Both sides seemed to get more agitated before going their separate ways. Better camera angles leaking allowed us to get a much better look at the words exchanged in the trash talk.

NBA content creator Legendz zoomed in and transcribed the exact words exchanged on camera:

Ja: “I don’t f*ck with y’all, I’m with whatever”

Vince: “Let’s go to the back”

Ja: “Why? I’m right here”

Vince: “Let’s go to the back”

Ja: “You’ve been here for 5 minutes! You’re not like that”

Morant has butted heads with coaches and management over the past season to put his future with the team in jeopardy. Many reports from various reporters have confirmed that the team feels he can’t play for this team beyond the deadline due to poor chemistry.

Ja Morant Is Still Sitting Injured

Morant was apparently hoping to return for the Grizzlies’ international game against the Orlando Magic on Thursday. Many NBA players love taking part in these games since it helps grow the game and builds their fan bases outside of the United States. Memphis did not clear Morant and sees him still sitting out as the team continues to work towards a trade.

The time in practice clearly showed that Morant is not in great standing with the rest of the team. Williams is a role player, but he’s been on the roster for multiple seasons teaming with Morant and seemingly getting along until now.

Something caused the two to have differing opinions that escalated into a strong argument. The zoomed in footage showed Williams even asking Morant if he wanted to go to the back for a fight. No violence took place and cooler heads prevailed as the Grizzlies hope to end this toxic situation soon.

Will Ja Morant Return To Memphis?

The trade deadline is still three weeks away, and most teams like to wait until closer to the final date for the best possible offers. Morant’s calf improving will see him cleared to play at some point over the next week or two.

However, Memphis could easily opt to sit Morant and keep him healthy over risking another injury to harm his overall trade value. Growing reports about the Grizzlies not wanting Morant around the team could force their hand faster if the deals are not improving.

Morant’s time in Memphis is ticking, and this incident with Williams confirms why the Grizzlies want him gone. Both sides realize this can’t be saved, but Morant cursing out Williams in practice proves he’s not afraid of rocking the boat until the move finally happens.
