Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior taunted by Arsenal fans during first defeat at Stamford Bridge - journalist

Liam Rosenior was given a very quick reminder of the task he has on his hands at Chelsea when he took charge of his first game at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were beaten 3-2 by Arsenal in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals, making the return fixture on February 3 a very difficult one for them to navigate.

Things could have been a lot worse if one of Rosenior’s substitutions had not paid off. Alejandro Garnacho’s brace has given the Blues a small chance of reaching Wembley.

Garnacho is the most unfairly criticised player at Chelsea 🤜🤛

It took just seven minutes for Chelsea to fall behind. Robert Sanchez didn’t cover himself in glory as Arsenal scored from another corner early on.

Arsenal fans torment Liam Rosenior with ‘sacked in the morning’ chants

As the pre-match excitement from the Blues fans disappeared, it was the Arsenal supporters who could be heard in West London.

Journalist Simon Johnson shared that the away fans at Stamford Bridge didn’t take long to taunt Rosenior, hinting that Chelsea’s chop and change policy in the hotseat could be about to hit him too.

He said: “Arsenal fans are singing ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ at Rosenior.”

After the Blues went 2-0 down, he added: “More ‘sacked in the morning’ chants from Arsenal fans to Rosenior.”

The comfortable nature of the win over Charlton is now a distant memory for Rosenior and co, as the reality of the job on his hands becomes clear to see.

One thing from Wednesday night which works in his favour is that he went into the game without arguably his three best players.

Moises Caicedo was suspended, and will be available again at the weekend, while there is hope Cole Palmer and Reece James will return to face Brentford on Saturday.

Turning things around in the second leg at the Emirates is going to be a very difficult task, but one that would certainly get supporters on board with the new manager if they were able to pull it off.
