Liverpool fans have had to endure a frustrating January transfer window so far.
A move for Marc Guehi is not expected to take place until the summer, which leaves the Reds very light at centre-back.
To make matters worse, Manchester City want Guehi as well, and unlike Liverpool, they are trying to complete a move now.

The Crystal Palace stopper could cost £35m this month and set any potential new team back £200,000-a-week in wages.
At present, it seems like the Sky Blues are the only team trying to sign Guehi before the deadline in early February.
But the England international isn’t the only Liverpool target who has caught the eye of the Manchester outfit in recent weeks.
Antoine Semenyo ranked higher than Virgil van Dijk
During the final few months of 2025, it was said that Antoine Semenyo was a target for the Reds.
There was even a suggestion of a late Liverpool move for Semenyo once the winter window opened.

However, the former Bournemouth attacker has since signed for Man City, already scoring two goals in two matches under Pep Guardiola.
Now, when speaking to Pro Direct, Justin Kluivert has picked Semenyo ahead of Virgil van Dijk.
The Dutchman was asked to name the top three players he has played with and selected Frenkie de Jong as number one, Semenyo as number two and Van Dijk as number three.

Liverpool face competition for another transfer target
While Semenyo is already a City player and Guehi’s future is yet to be decided, another player wanted by the Reds has interest from multiple clubs.
It was reported last that alongside Liverpool, all of Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all like Yan Diomande.
The RB Leipzig talent may, however, prefer a move to Anfield if push comes to shove based on his recent comments.
Diomande said he dreams of playing for Liverpool in a recent social media clip, but as we have seen in the past from players like Josko Gvardiol, just because someone says they like the club, it does not guarantee a move will happen.
