'Here we go' - Leeds United make transfer breakthrough as Fabrizio Romano issues update on…

Leeds United have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to sign Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The playmaker was pursued by Leeds in the summer window and briefly looked Elland Road-bound.

It has not worked out for Buonanotte in the capital, where he has been afforded just one Premier League appearance.

Major Facundo Buonanotte development

According to reporter Fabrizio Romano, Buonanotte is set to see his loan at Chelsea cut short to pave the way for a switch to West Yorkshire.

It has been claimed he will spend the rest of the season on loan in LS11 following the completion of a medical.

Posting on X, Romano said: “Leeds United reach verbal agreement to sign Facundo Buonanotte. Chelsea to interrupt loan move from Brighton, leaving CFC to return to BHAFC and then join Leeds. Move to LUFC will be on loan until the end of the season. Here we go, soon.

“Facu Buonanotte will undergo his medical at Leeds United soon as it’s all approved also by Chelsea and Brighton.”

Facundo Buonanotte’s career path

Buonanotte joined Brighton in January 2023, making a permanent move from Rosario Central in his native Argentina.

He has since made 50 appearances for the Seagulls, registering five goals and two assists.

Leicester City borrowed him for the duration of the 2024/25 season and he was a bright spark during a campaign that ended in relegation to the Championship for the Foxes.

It was after the end of his spell at Leicester that he was chased by Leeds, who missed out on his signature in the dying embers of the last window.

A creative playmaker renowned for his flair, he can operate as an attacking midfielder or on either flank.
