Jurgen Klopp could be tempted to take the reins at Real Madrid after stating "the weather is so much better" in Spain. Xabi Alonso departed the club by mutual consent after Madrid's defeat to Barcelona in Sunday's Spanish Super Cup final.
Alvaro Arbeloa has stepped into the hot seat, but speculation continues around more experienced candidates. Klopp spent nearly ten years at Liverpool and won many trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League.
The Anfield legend left at the end of the 2023/24 campaign and cited that he was "running out of energy." Following his exit, Klopp took on a position as head of global football for Red Bull and has been repeatedly tipped for a managerial comeback.
Now, comments the German made back in 2021 regarding the prospect of managing in Spain have re-emerged. Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool's Champions League quarter-final tie, Klopp joked about how fortunate people were to live and work in the country.
He said: "When we flew out I regret we don't live here! The weather is so much better here. You are blessed!"
When pushed further on the topic, he added: "There are three good clubs. I would fit to all of them. Only problem I have is my Spanish is really bad!
"You wouldn't enjoy having me in Spain with broken Spanish. All the clubs have great managers. Real Mallorca would be nice!"
This remark could be seen as a significant indication that the manager might entertain a return to the dugout for the Spanish giants. Klopp also shared his thoughts on Alonso's dismissal during an interview on ServusTV On, suggesting that it highlights a certain reality about modern football.

He said: "First of all, I think it's another sign that something isn't quite right there at the moment.
"If Xabi Alonso, who over the last two years in Leverkusen has shown what an outstanding coaching talent he is – and I think at his age and with the number of jobs he's had, you can say that - is then forced to leave Madrid just six months later, it shows a few things.
"On the one hand, it shows that nowadays there's no time anymore. On the other, the expectations at Real Madrid are obviously enormous. To make a decision like that in the heat of the moment, after losing a [Spanish Super Cup] final to Barcelona yesterday, says a lot."
