"League and team sources confirmed a report that the Lakers have some interest in Kuminga, though it remains unclear if talks will unfold," the report stated. "The Warriors, the sources said, are aware of the intrigue and waiting to see how that situation evolves."
However, The Athletic added that if no offer meets Golden State's expectations in the opening days or weeks, Kuminga could ultimately remain with the team.
With the Sacramento Kings—previously viewed as the frontrunner—now unwilling to include a future protected first-round pick in a deal, the Lakers could step in with a more appealing offer.

According to Evan Sidery of Forbes, the Warriors have been actively calling teams for weeks to explore potential trade packages involving Kuminga.
Kuminga officially became eligible to be traded on January 15.
Meanwhile, the Lakers are targeting a true 3-and-D wing with size ahead of the February 5 trade deadline.
This season, Kuminga has appeared in 18 games for Golden State, averaging 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in approximately 24 minutes per game.
