Chelsea's plan for Romeo Lavia laid bare after Liam Rosenior update

Liam Rosenior has finally given Chelsea fans the update on Romeo Lavia that they have been waiting for, but it’s not all good news.

Chelsea are at risk of going down to the bare bones in central midfield if they suffer an injury, as Enzo Fernandez, Andrey Santos, and Moises Caicedo are currently the only senior options.

Dario Essugo’s return comes as a boost, but you cannot rely on an unproven 20-year-old to deliver after an injury layoff as well.

The Romeo Lavia situation certainly hasn’t helped after 10 weeks out injured.

However, it appears as if Chelsea fans may be able to catch a glimpse of him at some point this year, after another rather mysterious update from Liam Rosenior himself.

It’s time to cut our losses and sign a player who can actually run 🤕

Romeo Lavia is back on the grass at Chelsea

It’s a step in the right direction for Chelsea and Liam Rosenior to have another central midfielder back on the grass after a lengthy period out.

However, it’s vital with a player like Lavia that you don’t rush him back and throw him into the deep end too early, given his history of injuries.

Lavia’s future at Chelsea was seen as uncertain, but Liam Rosenior has softened any worries.

“Romeo is on the pitch, he is not with the group, but he is out on the pitch. He is someone I would love to work with in the long-term because he’s an outstanding player. It’s important we don’t push him too hard because when he is back, we want him to be back for good. No timeframe.”

So it’s clear that Chelsea plan to give him a future despite his issues, it’s just a case of sitting back and waiting until he can finally return to action.

After Enzo Maresca’s dispute with the medical team, are they the real problem at Chelsea?🤔
