Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has hinted that he could leave the club in the summer, as his contract is due to expire.
The Reds are heading into their next game against Burnley, hoping to close the gap to league leaders Arsenal to 11 points. Arne Slot will be pleased with his side’s recent form, as they are unbeaten in their last 11 games in all competitions.
However, many of Slot’s problems this season have been around keeping players at the club, with Mo Salah being the perfect example. The Egyptian winger sparked reports of a January exit when he said in an interview in December that he’d been “thrown under the bus” by Liverpool.

He is due to return from AFCON next week, but it isn’t clear whether he will stay or leave the club before the end of the season.
Robertson could leave Liverpool too
Scotland international and Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson is another potential exit candidate, as his current contract at Anfield is due to expire in June, and there is yet to be an extension.
Robertson has been at Liverpool since 2017, and he’s made over 360 appearances for the Reds, winning a Champions League title, two Premier league titles, an FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups.
The 31-year-old would be a huge loss, as he has been such a big part of Liverpool’s success over the past 10 years, but he could be on his way out. Former Reds player and manager Kenny Dalglish hailed Robertson earlier in the year.
Dalglish said in an interview with Liverpool’s official website: “Andy’s a quality player. He has pace, his final ball is excellent and he plays with his heart on his sleeve… Everyone in Scotland should be very, very proud of him.”
Contract talks begin as Robertson hints at exit
The left-back has spoken out about his future at Liverpool in a recent interview with the Guardian, hinting that he could leave the club in the summer, and not sign a new deal with the Reds.
He said: “We’ve had chats now which will remain private; we’ll see what happens. I’ve got five months left and we need to see the option to stay or if there’s options to go and things like that. I’ll sit down with my family and decide.
“After a stressful summer, I’m just trying to enjoy being a part of it, and being a Liverpool player. I wanted to qualify for the World Cup and thankfully we’ve managed to do that. I need to see what myself and my family wants.”
It will be a story to keep an eye on, especially seeing as European clubs can now enter into talks with Robertson, because he has less than six months on his contract, he could sign a pre-contract agreement to leave in the summer, like Trent Alexander-Arnold did last year.
