Nothing went well for the New York Knicks on Wednesday night in Sacramento, California.
In a matchup against the Sacramento Kings, the Knicks were getting pummeled from the jump. To make matters worse, the star guard Jalen Brunson went down with an ankle injury.
It’s a familiar setback for Brunson, and it took him off the court for a chunk of the first half. The Knicks initially kept his status as questionable to return, but it wasn’t long before they ultimately ruled him out.
The veteran finished the game with 5 minutes played. He shot 2-3 from the field, producing 4 points. He turned the ball over once while recording 0 assists.
The Knicks Get a Positive Update
A right ankle sprain was the official in-game diagnosis for Brunson.
After the game, reporters in attendance noticed that Brunson did not have crutches and wasn’t sporting a walking boot. That was labeled as a “good sign” by The Athletic’s James Edwards.

The Knicks fell short against the Kings with a 112-101 loss. They dropped to 25-15 on the year as a result. While they held their own in Brunson-less games last season, the Knicks rarely missed him this year. They are clearly hoping that his setback is just a minor ailment.
On Thursday, the Knicks are slated to return to the court to take on the Golden State Warriors. Brunson’s status is unclear as of noon on Thursday.
The two teams will tip off at 10 PM ET.
