Boosie had to take his hat off to celebrate the Pelicans' win over the Brooklyn Nets

Boosie was overjoyed as he watched the New Orleans Pelicans defeat the Brooklyn Nets 116-113 on Wednesday night at the Smoothie King Center.

The legendary Louisiana rapper sat courtside next to New Orleans Saints cornerback Quincy Riley, and he enjoyed himself in true Boosie fashion.

Boosie enthusiastically cheered for the Pelicans throughout the night and stood up for moments like Zion Williamson’s steal on Cam Thomas and double-pump dunk through traffic.

But his trademark moment came after the game when he took his winter hat off and began impersonating whipping the Smoothie King Center court. Fans and friends alike laughed as the Baton Rouge native continued the imitation.

The celebration has been popularized by Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, who has taken his belt off and whipped Gatorade coolers after each University of Miami win in the College Football Playoff. The celebration symbolizes the trash-talking phrase, “belt to a—.”

Boosie recently attended an LSU women’s basketball game to watch his “niece,” Flau’jae Johnson. Although Boosie and Johnson aren’t blood-related, Boosie has known the star LSU guard her entire life after Johnson’s father and fellow popular Southern rapper Camoflauge died before Johnson was born.

Boosie met LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey after the game and told her he plans to see her again before her senior season is over.

Boosie has also become known as an Atlanta Hawks season-ticket holder and has developed a routine with mascot Harry The Hawk when the in-arena DJ plays F.L.Y.’s “Swag Surfin.”
