Liverpool are in talks over the potential sale of Federico Chiesa
The writing appears to be on the wall for Federico Chiesa as rumours surrounding a move away from Liverpool have now escalated.
The Italian international was handed a rare start when the Reds beat Barnsley 4-1 in the FA Cup on Monday. However, he continues to mostly play a rotational role under Arne Slot and his future now looks to lie away from Anfield.
Reports have been ramping up recently, suggesting Chiesa could be headed for a return to Italy. Juventus are the club leading the race for his signature and a fresh update appears to be more urgent than others.
Liverpool in ‘constant talks’ with Juventus over Federico Chiesa
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Juventus are ‘determined’ to bring Chiesa back to Turin this year.
The winger signed for Liverpool in August 2024 for an initial £10 million but his activity at the club has been limited. As he continues to struggle for regular game time, Chiesa is being sounded out by his former club and it seems all parties are on board with a move materialising.
“Juventus has decided to focus entirely on Chiesa to strengthen their attacking line. They are in constant contact with Liverpool, who are clearly open to the possibility of selling the player,” the Italian report claims.
Federico Chiesa open to leaving Liverpool
Due to his limited game time at Liverpool, Chiesa is open to a move away from the club, for the good of his career. Tuttomercatoweb report that the winger is ‘keen to return’ to his old stomping ground.
“Juventus’s goal now is to find a solution to the deal with the Reds as quickly as possible, whether it be a permanent deal or a loan with an obligation to buy in June,” the report continues.
It has also been reported that Chiesa is willing to take a pay cut in order to see a move come to fruition. Ahead of the fast approaching World Cup, the 28-year-old will be looking to do all he can to give himself a chance of making the Italian squad, should they qualify.
Other reports have suggested that Chiesa is looking to experience ‘a new era with Juventus’ under manager Luciano Spalletti.
It is suggested that the ex-Fiorentina man earns around £5.2 million per year at Liverpool but he is willing to ‘reduce’ his salary to return to the Old Lady.
