Brunson suffered the injury in Wednesday's 112–101 loss to the Sacramento Kings, appearing in just five minutes.

The All-Star point guard went down in the first quarter while dribbling, when his ankle appeared to give out, sending him to the floor. He finished with four points before exiting the game.

This isn't the first time Brunson has dealt with the issue this season. He previously missed two games in November with a sprained right ankle and was sidelined for about a month late in the 2024–25 season with the same injury.

Brunson's absence is a major blow for the Knicks. He is averaging 28.2 points and 6.1 assists per game while leading the league in scoring efficiency, and his unavailability could tilt the matchup in favor of the 22–19 Warriors on their home court.
