After failing to sweep the OKC Thunder, Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs debuted a big change before their game against the Bucks.
Through his first two and a half seasons in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs, Victor Wembanyama has proven to be both a one-of-a-kind player on the court and a unique person off the court.
While the Spurs have hit a recent skid afterputting their franchise starback in the starting lineup, Wembanyama has made a change that, based on previous evidence, could lead to an improvement in his performance.
Most recently,it was reported that Wembanyama has shaved his head, in a picture posted on X by Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News.

Wemby got a haircut.
According to him, both Wembanyama and the Spurs’ Sixth Man of the Year candidate Keldon Johnson shaved each other’s heads after the team’s blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Wembanyama Got His Head Shaved After Thunder Loss
Per McDonald, both Wembanyama and Johnson decided to shave their heads together after failing to sweep the Thunder in their fourth game against each other this season. Johnson described how, with a few of his friends already with bald heads, he and his superstar teammates chose to shave each other’s heads.
“Vic was like, ‘Yo, let’s bald our head.’ And I was like, ‘Let’s do it,'” Johnson said. “I was trying to make sure everything went smooth, take my time…I had to fade it up a little bit at first. Then I gave him a little bowl cut and then we went from there.”
While a unique story in its own right, this isn’t the first time Wembanyama has shaved his head in the past year. Over the summer, while in China spending time with Shaolin monks, the 7’6″ French center was photographed with no hair on his head in what was an experience he described as putting his “body through things that it’s not used to doing and allowing my range of movement and strength.”
According to Bleacher Report, after shaving his head to start the 2025-26 NBA season, Wembanyama put up averages of 26.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks per game in 12 games before going out for a few weeks with a calf injury.
Since then, whileit’s been accompanied by less playing time, including nine games coming off the bench, all those numbers for Wembanyama have dipped. San Antonio has lost six of their last ten games, and while still sitting third in the Western Conference standings with a 27-13 record, perhaps the move by him and Johnson will bring them back to their winning ways.
Wembanyama finished with just 17 points and seven rebounds in 28 minutes against the Thunder.
San Antonio Spurs Vs. Milwaukee Bucks Game Preview
Set for their upcoming contest against the Milwaukee Bucks, the shaved Wembanyama will attempt to help lead his team against the previously trade-rumored Giannis Antetokounmpo. While the Greek star now appears to be staying in Milwaukee, at least for the time being, the Bucks haven’t had a strong first half of the season.
Currently 17-23 and 11th in the East, the team has some up-and-coming young players, but Antetokounmpo remains the key to their success, putting up 29.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 5.7 assists on 64.9% shooting in yet another MVP-level season.
He did miss some time with a calf injury, right around the same time trade rumors surrounding him heated up once again. But now, with Myles Turner, Ryan Rollins, Kevin Porter Jr., and Bobby Portis, they are hoping to take a win in San Antonio after losing three of their last four. The Bucks have Kyle Kuzma listed as questionable for the game, while Antetokounmpo is listed as probable, dealing with ankle soreness.
For the Spurs, they haveDevin Vassell listed as out with an adductor injury, and while head coach Mitch Johnson said he is progressing well, the team doesn’t have a timeline for areturn.
San Antonio and Milwaukee have yet to play this season, but they split the two games against each other last year, one in whichWembanyama and the Spurs won by 26 points in a high-scoring affair, and the other in which Antetokounmpo and his squad won by 16 points.
