Wembanyama revealed that his knee injury against the Bucks isn't serious, and he admitted that he needs to be careful in absorbing contact to prevent potential injuries.
San Antonio Spurs fans were sweating again on Thursday after Victor Wembanyama suffered a right knee injury against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Defending Giannis Antetokounmpo, Wembanyama bumped his knee into the Greek star. He went down to the ground and entered the locker room just three minutes after the start of the game.
But Wembanyama shrugged off any concerns regarding his condition. He obtained a standing ovation in his return to start the second frame and eventually led the Spurs' 119-101 blowout win.
"I did not think it was serious because it was just knee to knee, and I've had this dozens of times, but never against a guy like [Antetokounmpo]," he said in the postgame after dropping 22 points and 10 boards in the victory. "That was a little more than usual, but thankfully it’s a very benign thing."
The Spurs can't be more serious in monitoring Wembanyama's health this season. The franchise star missed a handful of games because of calf and knee issues. He's been in and out of the team's rotation, either as a starter or as a reserve.
Due to injuries, Wembanyama is also in danger of missing out on individual awards this season. He can miss no more than three more games to stay qualified amid the NBA's 65-game rule.
He is averaging 23.9 points, 10.9 boards, 3.0 assists and 2.7 blocks this 2025-26.
In the end, Wembanyama acknowledged that he has to be careful and wise enough on when to sacrifice his body and drain contacts.
"On a night like tonight, especially going up against a guy like Giannis, I think you have to be ready to give up your body for this matchup because no matter what, you’re not going to get out of there 100%. But usually, unfortunately, we have to be smart, and I have to be smart about it and not take too many risks," he said.
"I know some guys—and they’re totally right—will not hold back, of course. I understand that, because I’d like the guys on my team to do the same thing. And they do. So you just have to be smart sometimes."
