We are now over two weeks into the 2026 January transfer window and there’s plenty happening around Liverpool.

Joe Gomez expected to leave Liverpool
Joe Gomez is one of the longest-serving players left at Liverpool following his move from Charlton Athletic in 2015.
However, the centre-back, who is out of contract in 2027, could leave the club before next season.

David Lynch commented on Gomez departing Liverpool this week when discussing the potential addition of a new defender.
He said: “I think you can make the case to sign a centre half who can play right back because you can 100% guarantee Liverpool are going to need one of those next season because Joe Gomez is very unlikely to be here.”

Liverpool beat Inter Milan to Ifeanyi Ndukwe
Speaking of centre-back options for the future, it has emerged that Liverpool fended off Inter Milan for Ifeanyi Ndukwe.
The young defender, who is expected to link up with the Reds for the start of the 2026/27 season, is signing for the club in what is said to be a £2.5m deal.
As well as the teenager, Liverpool think they have signed two superstars who will shore up the future of Slot’s defence for years to come.
Latest on Federico Chiesa to Juventus
Meanwhile, Federico Chiesa to Juventus in the current transfer window is gathering pace.
The Italian remains a fringe star under Slot, who has often preferred Jeremie Frimpong or Dominik Szoboszlai as right-wing options while Mohamed Salah has been away.
The latest information is that Juventus are ‘full steam ahead’ for the Liverpool forward, and are aiming to get a deal done as quickly as possible.
