Chelsea wants sign midfielder–Blues hoping to striker forward deal–Chelsea told replace£60M star?

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest that you guys may have missed…

Former Blues star Glen Johnson has questioned whether Joao Pedro was consistent enough to be Chelsea’s long-term first-choice striker, and suggested that a more consistent striker is needed for the club to win that Premier League.

Joao Pedro was Chelsea’s most expensive signing at £60m last summer, but a further £200m was spent on key additions Jamie Gittens, Alejandro Garnacho, Estevao Willian, Jorrel Hato and Liam Delap.

Those arrivals helped CHELSEA win the Conference League last season and lift the Club World Cup trophy over the summer, beating Champions League holders PSG in the final.

However – The £60m summer signing of Pedro has scored seven goals in all competitions so far this season after bagging 30 in 70 games for his former club Brighton, and has struggled to find the net on a regular basis.

And now Johnson has opened up and claimed that he is not sure that Pedro can lead the Blues back to the Premier League title: ‘On his day, I think Joao Pedro can be the striker that Chelsea requires,’ Johnson said. ‘But I’m just not sure his day comes often enough.

‘If you want to be the number nine for a club like CHELSEA, you have to perform week in week out, and Pedro doesn’t seem capable of this at the moment.

‘I think he is a fantastic player, but we need to see consistency in his form.

‘Chelsea are looking to win the league, that is their target, and if Pedro wants to be the striker who leads them there, he will need to demonstrate his ability much more often.’

CHELSEA WANTS SELL FOFANA

Reports have Claimed that Chelsea are hoping to offload striker David Datro Fofana in this transfer window.

Joao Pedro was Chelsea’s most expensive signing at £60m last summer, but a further £200m was spent on key additions Jamie Gittens, Alejandro Garnacho, Estevao Willian, Jorrel Hato and Liam Delap.

Those arrivals helped CHELSEA win the Conference League last season and lift the Club World Cup trophy over the summer, beating Champions League holders PSG in the final, but there are players that are no longer needed at the club

23-year-old Fofana joined Chelsea from Molde in 2023, but has not managed to crack the first-team, nor has he impressed overly in loan spells with Union Berlin, Göztepe, Burnley, and Fatih Karagümrük, where he is currently plying his trade.

All parties are interested in finding him a permanent move this month, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Celtic, Royal Antwerp, and Derby County have expressed an interest in doing a deal.

Since joining CHELSEA, Datro Fofana has scored 16 goals in 61 appearances for six teams, including the Blues’ Under-21s.

Fofana had all the attributes to be a quality player for CHELSEA, he could be a striker that scores a ton of goals, but that big move came too early and he has struggled to reignite his career with these loan moves.

If the Blues really want to get rid of Fofana, they will, there are some clubs interested and he wants to make that move away.

CHELSEA WANTS SIGN MIDFIELDER

Chelsea FC find themselves once again at a crossroads, looking to strengthen key areas of the squad to fuel a stronger second half of the season, and are keen to add a new midfielder according to reports.

Reporter Iomie Stanley was quoted: ‘Chelsea’s midfield this season has struggled to find the right balance between creativity, control, and defensive stability. Matches have often shown a disconnect between midfield and attack, with the team lacking a reliable player who can consistently link play, dictate tempo, and break lines with smart passing.

‘While individual players have delivered strong performances at times, the unit as a whole has lacked cohesion. The absence of a natural midfield conductor — someone capable of controlling large stretches of a game — has made CHELSEA overly reliant on moments of brilliance rather than sustained control. A new midfielder with composure and tactical intelligence would help address this structural issue.

‘One of Chelsea’s clearest vulnerabilities has been in transitional moments. When possession is lost, the midfield often struggles to regain shape quickly or win duels decisively. Opponents have exploited this by driving through central areas and creating dangerous counter-attacking opportunities.

‘A midfielder with strong defensive instincts — someone who can anticipate danger, break up play, and protect the back line — would significantly improve Chelsea’s ability to control transitions. This type of player has become essential in modern football, and it is an area where Chelsea have lacked consistency.

‘Despite having attacking talent in forward positions, Chelsea’s chance creation from midfield has not been at the level expected for a club with top-four ambitions. Too often, play has been slow or predictable, with few line-breaking passes or progressive carries from deeper zones.

‘Signing a midfielder capable of injecting creativity, whether through incisive passing or confident ball progression, would unlock more opportunities for the forwards and add a new dimension to ***CHELSEA***’s attacking structure.’
