NBA trade news: Indiana Pacers add key new names on center radar

The Indiana Pacers are targeting a trade for a center before the Feb. 5 deadline, in which Onyeka Okongwu, Yves Missi, and Jarrett Allen are the latest names on their list.

The hunt continues for the Indiana Pacers to identify the center of their future.

According to Jake Fischer from The Stein Line, there is a significant sense around the league that the Pacers will make a frontcourt splash with three weeks before the trade deadline.

Beyond their well-known interest in pursuing Ivica Zubac and Daniel Gafford, the Pacers are now also a team to watch on Onyeka Okongwu and Yves Missi.

"It sounds as though the Pacers have considered every name at the position," Stein wrote in his latest report. "I was told this week, for example, that Indiana has called Atlanta on Onyeka Okongwu in addition to its previously reported interest in players such as Dallas' Daniel Gafford and the (perceived as much harder-to-get) Ivica Zubac of the LA Clippers.

"Another name on Indiana's list, sources say, is Pelicans center Yves Missi."

Meanwhile, Sam Amico reports that the Pacers are monitoring the Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen.

Upon the free agency departure of Myles Turner last year, the Pacers are determined to land a new long-term center.

They are bracing for a comeback campaign next 2026-27 with Tyrese Haliburton set to return from his Achilles recovery.

Out of this, many are monitoring their plans on Bennedict Mathurin. The rising Pacers guard is set to become a restricted free agent after failing to secure a rookie extension.

The Pacers currently have Jay Huff and Isaiah Jackson anchoring their middle, and it's evident that they need a much better enforcer to be back in contention following this season.
