Report: Chelsea block West Ham move but they could still make a U-turn

West Ham continue to be frustrated in their pursuit of a new goalkeeper, but Chelsea could yet open the doors.

While this particular statistic is clearly a collective failing more than anything else, West Ham United have kept only one clean sheet all season.

That simply isn’t good enough, and the summer signing of Mads Hermansen is yet to have worked out.

How many more signings do we need to make for you to feel confident about staying up?! 🤔

Still an awful lot of work to do…

In fact, Hammers News understands that West Ham could sell Hermansen only a few months after he joined the club from Leicester.

It’s easy to see why Nuno wants West Ham to sign a new goalkeeper, although they have not found much success on that front just yet.

Still, there could seemingly be a development later in the window.

Filip Jorgensen wants to leave Chelsea

According to BBC Sport, West Ham are interested in Chelsea’s Filip Jorgensen.

The Danish international joined the club from Villarreal in 2024 and while he has largely played second fiddle to Robert Sanchez at Stamford Bridge, the 24-year-old did play throughout their Conference League-winning campaign last season.

The report claims that Jorgensen is pushing to leave the club during the January transfer window as he wants to better his chance of claiming the No.1 spot for Denmark at international level.

As it stands, Chelsea are blocking his exit but it’s said that there is hope that the Blues could make a U-turn on that as the window progresses.

Filip Jorgensen might think twice about West Ham United move

The very desire Jorgensen has to claim a regular starting berth for his country could be exactly what stops him from joining West Ham.

The Hammers will always be an attractive destination. They are a historic club with a unique fanbase and can offer London living. All of that works in their favour, when speaking generally.

However, the issue is that relegation to the Championship is a realistic possibility. For a player looking for security and building that into international recognition, it doesn’t currently look like the best environment.

On the flip side, if Jorgensen were to forget all that and simply relish playing first-team football for a great club – albeit one in the doldrums right now – then supporters would know he’s up for the fight.
