Liverpool team news ahead of the Premier League clash against Burnley.

Arne Slot has revealed he’s ‘really happy’ that Mo Salah will return to Liverpool duty.

The Reds have been without the winger for the past six matches as he’s been representing Egypt at the African Cup of Nations. Salah will miss a seventh game as Egypt face Nigeria in a third-placed play-off on Saturday.

It means that Salah will again be absent for the Premier League fixture against Burnley tomorrow. And with Liverpool facing Marseille in the Champions League on Wednesday, Slot admitted he’s unsure whether Salah will be back for that game, and talks are ongoing.

Speaking at his pre-Burnley press conference, Slot said: “First of all, he needs to play another big game and then he comes back. I’m happy he comes back. He has been so important for this club and for me. Even if I had 15 attackers, I’d be happy but that’s not our current situation.

“Next week [Salah will return]. We are in talks with what is expected over there and here. First, he needs to have an important game over there and next week he will be back. That’s something [the Marseille game] we’re talking about now.”

Liverpool will be without Conor Bradley for the rest of the season after he suffered a serious knee injury in last week’s 0-0 draw at Arsenal. The right-back underwent surgery earlier this week. Giovanni Leoni (ACL) also won’t play again this term while Alexander Isak is recovering from a broken leg.

In the 4-1 FA Cup win over Barnsley earlier this week, Hugo Ekitike made a goalscoring return off the bench after recovering from a hamstring issue. Wataru Endo was also back on the bench having had an ankle problem. The pair will be available to face Burnley as Liverpool aim to stretch their unbeaten streak to 12 matches in all competitions.

“We have Giovanni Leoni out for the season, Conor Bradley out for the season and Alexander Isak out for multiple months but the rest I think everyone is fit,” added Slot.

Youngsters Jayden Danns and Stefan Bajcetic (both hamstring) remain unavailable.
