Report: Chelsea want to sign midfielder who Enzo Maresca really wanted for Liam Rosenior

Any midfield signings will likely have to wait for the summer for Chelsea, but that hasn’t stopped the rumours this month.

Chelsea have already acted on their midfield options when it comes to the Champions League, having added Dario Essugo to their squad in Facundo Buonanotte’s place.

However, this still leaves the options short. Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Andrey Santos are the only other options, so the Blues are just one injury away from a crisis.

And the fact that Romeo Lavia is still miles away from returning makes things even worse.

The Blues do have their eyes on a central midfielder, but it’s looking like a central defender will be the priority instead for this month.

QUESTION: Who is out there that fits the description for Chelsea?👀

An experienced centre-back…

Chelsea still want to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest

Elliot Anderson was on Enzo Maresca’s radar during his time at the club. He was described as a ‘strong admirer’ of the midfielder, but nothing had come of it.

That interest hasn’t gone away and it seems as if the Blues could really make a push under Rosenior.

According to TalkSPORT, Chelsea also want to add a new midfielder this summer with Nottingham’s Forest’s Elliot Anderson one of their targets.

As mentioned, any deal would require a hefty fee, so this will be one that has to wait for the summer.

DECISION TIME: If Liam Rosenior gets to pick one midfielder signing this month, who should it be?💰

Have we missed anyone…

What would Elliot Anderson bring to Chelsea?

Anderson’s versatility is something that immediately jumps out. He can play as a number six, number eight and a number 10, which makes him invaluable.

He ranks in the 99th percentile for progressive passes and deep progressions, as well as turning in a monster when it comes to winning duels with England on international duty.

Adding a player of his quality would show the likes of Fernandez and Caicedo that the club means business, plus it provides the stern competition needed to drive these players on.
