Mikel Arteta has suggested that Arsenal could see the return of some injured players in time for this weekend's match.

The Spanish manager, whose team is set to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday, is currently without three key defenders - Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapie, Cristhian Mosquera, and young forward Max Dowman.

Arteta gave a somewhat enigmatic update at the Sobha Realty Training Centre on Friday, confirming no new injuries following the 3-2 victory over Chelsea in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

When questioned about the potential return of any of his sidelined players this weekend, the Arsenal boss responded: "They might be, I need to meet the medical staff to see if any can be."

While Arteta typically remains tight-lipped regarding injury updates, he did not dismiss the possibility of some players making a comeback this weekend, reports Football London.

However, it seems unlikely that Riccardo Calafiori will return soon. Prior to the midweek game at Stamford Bridge, Arteta suggested that the full-back would be out for several more weeks due to a muscle issue.

Calafiori experienced discomfort before the 2-1 victory over Brighton in late December, which was exacerbated during the warm-up when he had to withdraw from the starting line-up.
