Fabrizio Romano confirms 'big approach' for massive Liverpool target

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a 'big approach' for one of Liverpool's main transfer targets. The Reds will have to act.

Everyone is fully aware that Liverpool tried to sign Marc Guehi in the summer. They tracked him all year long but, unfortunately, waited until the very last moments to actually make a move.

Virtually everything appeared to be agreed, only for Crystal Palace to back out at the last moment. They knew full well that would likely mean losing Guehi on a free transfer come the summer, but they couldn't afford to lose their captain without signing a replacement.

There was no time to do that, though, and so Guehi stayed. Liverpool knew they could try again in January or wait for the big summer battle.

Now, however, it seems that battle won't take place. Not after a 'big approach' for Guehi from a rival club.

Now or never for Marc Guehi

Fabrizio Romano says a ‘big approach’ has come in from Manchester City for Marc Guehi. They’re hoping to sign the centre-back now and avoid the rush in the summer - while also securing an extra six months of one of the Premier League’s best.

"Manchester City advance on Marc Guehi deal as big approach has been made in the last 12h,” writes Romano on Twitter.

"Manchester City presented important proposal to Guehi in terms of contract, eventually ready to proceed also with Crystal Palace.

"Deal now closer with [City]."
