Harry Maguire has given his initial verdict on Michael Carrick | Sky Sports
Michael Carrick will take charge of Man Utd when they face Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend.
The 44-year-old was appointed head coach until the end of the season on Tuesday night and will take charge of his former club for the first time in the role when they host Man City in the Premier League this weekend. Carrick will have overseen three training sessions before the derby clash and will not have lots of time to implement his own tactical blueprint on the side.
It means it might be a while before we see United perform exactly how Carrick would like them to, but his immediate focus is simply on lifting the spirits after Ruben Amorim was sacked. Carrick has learned a lot since his last spell at the club, and defender Maguire is already impressed by the work he has done at Carrington this week.

Maguire gives first impression of Carrick
Harry Maguire could be handed a starting role when Manchester United host Man City in the Premier League this weekend, and will look to give his all to head coach Michael Carrick.
The pair worked together when Carrick was part of the backroom staff under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Maguire is impressed by his start to life in the new role this week. "Really impressed. Obviously, I knew Carras from before and I spoke really highly of him," Maguire told Sky Sports.
"He was a magnificent coach when he was here under Ole. He has got great ideas, he speaks really well, tactically he is really, really good. Obviously now he has had a lot of experience at Middlesbrough as a manager and I am sure he is going to come here and implement his ideas. He is a legend of the club and I am sure the fans will get right behind him. Him and all his coaching staff, I have been really impressed this week."
"We haven't had much time on the grass, but we have had a couple of sessions. He is trying to bring new energy, new ideas, without drilling us too much at this moment tactically. He just wants to bring the energy back in the building. That is so important. This club is scrutinised, a lot of eyes on it all the time, and people can lose energy within that. Michael has played here, performed in unbelievable teams and has been a magnificent player. He knows what you need here. I feel like he has brought a lot of energy this week and the players have bought into it."
