Marc Guehi has already agreed a deal in principle on personal terms for a Manchester City move according to reports.
With the injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias, there was always a danger that the Cityzens would make a push for the Palace skipper – and now those fears have been realised for Liverpool fans. While a summer free transfer would theoretically unlock higher signing-on bonuses and the freedom to cherry-pick his destination, perhaps Guehi has the failed Liverpool move in mind and is looking to join an elite club as soon as possible.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner has already asserted that a January sale is not out of the question, and judging from past history, Man City won’t hesitate in paying the fee required – which could total £40 million.
Guehi is already an established England international and counts as homegrown for Premier League/Champions League quotas, which is something that Liverpool’s recruitment team would have flagged as well.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has now reported that Marc Guehi has agreed a deal in principle with Man City on personal terms:
“Decision made: We’ve been told Manchester City are set to submit an official bid for Marc Guehi. The offer is expected to be formally lodged with Crystal Palace soon and is worth around £30 million. Personal terms are not an issue between Guehi/ManCity. An agreement between the clubs is not expected to be an issue. The move could now progress quickly, provided Guehi agrees to the transfer.”
