Samson Nacua, the older brother of Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua, won’t be charged after he was accused of car theft last month in Los Angeles.
Samson, 27, and a friend, Trey Rose, 27, [were arrested](https://www.cleveland.com/sports/2025/12/nfl-stars-brother-accused-of-stealing-car-from-lakers-rookie.html) at One Hotel in West Hollywood, California, on accusations that they stole an SUV belonging to Los Angeles Lakers rookie Adou Thiero. Both Nacua and Rose were charged with one count of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
However, neither Nacua or Rose will be charged after investigators say the incident was an accidental mistake. Nacua took Thiero’s car because he mistook it for a vehicle owned by Puka, as both Thiero and Puka have the same car model and color, investigators told [NBC4](https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/puka-nacua-adou-thiero-suv-theft-mistake/3832111/) in Los Angeles.
Thiero didn’t press charges against Nacua, concluding that the incident was a mistake, NBC4 reports. Charges against Nacua and Rose were dropped after deputies with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department requested that the LA County Attorney’s office reject the case.
Samson Nacua, a native of Provo, Utah, played five seasons of college football as a wide receiver – including four seasons at Utah from 2017-20 and one season at BYU as teammates with Puka in 2021. Samson finished his collegiate career with 103 receptions for 1,344 yards and 14 touchdowns in 58 games for the Utes and Cougars.
After college, Samson played two seasons for the UFL’s Michigan Panthers in 2024 and 2025. He also signed with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts in 2022 and New Orleans Saints in 2023, but never appeared in a game.
Puka, meanwhile, is one of the NFL’s biggest stars since entering the league in 2023. In two-plus seasons with the Rams, Nacua has 313 catches for 4,191 yards and 19 touchdowns. He earned a Pro Bowl selection in his rookie season in 2023 and finished second in AP Offensive Rookie of the Year voting that season. He earned his second Pro Bowl selection this season and was named First Team All-Pro.
