FC Barcelona are already busy with their squad planning for the next season, with major focus on two major areas – the centre-back and striker positions.
A left-footed central defender remains a top priority, while at the same time, the club are looking to solidify their options in the No. 9 department.
Robert Lewandowski’s future remains uncertain, which is why other top options like Julian Alvarez and Harry Kane are being considered.
Ferran Torres renewal a key step
At the same time, MARCA reports that Barcelona also want to renew the contract of in-form forward Ferran Torres.
Barcelona are very pleased with Ferran’s performances, as he is enjoying an excellent season.
Talks have not yet begun, but the intention is to extend his stay, with his current contract with the Blaugrana running until the summer of 2027.

The 25-year-old Ferran has stepped up in a huge way this season, pulling ahead of Lewandowski as the main striker of the team.
So far, the Spanish international has netted 15 goals from 26 appearances in all competitions, while registering one assist.
On Thursday, he scored again for the Catalans in the Copa del Rey clash against Racing Santander, while also captaining the team.
Given his transformation over the past year under Hansi Flick, the forward’s market value has risen significantly in recent months, and there may be interest from clubs.
However, Ferran has always maintained that he wants to stay at Barcelona for a long time, and as such, a contract extension should not be an issue once talks begin between the two parties in the coming months.
