Cavaliers’ 2016 memories to be featured at Greater Cleveland Sports Awards

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Greater Cleveland Sports Awards will feature a fireside chat with David Griffin, J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ championship.

The 26th annual event, which is Thursday, Feb. 5, at Rocket Arena, will feature the chat, moderated by Mark Schwab of Rock Entertainment Sports Network and 19 News.

Griffin was Cavaliers general manager from 2014 to 2017, Smith was a guard in Cleveland from 2015 to 2019, and Shumpert played from 2015 to 2018.

Last year, several members of the 1995 Cleveland Indians’ pennant-winning team were part of an entertaining fireside chat at the awards ceremony.

The awards honor the best in Northeast Ohio sports from the past year, ranging from high school to professional athletes. It includes guest appearances, pre-show reception, networking, open bar, silent auction and more.

Doors open with reception at 5 p.m., followed by the program at 7 p.m. For tickets go to clevelandsportsawards.com.

The awards benefit the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.
