Liverpool target Marc Guehi has reportedly been offered a contract proposal by Premier League rivals Manchester City, as they seek to win the race for the Crystal Palace star
Guehi, who becomes a free agent at the end of the season, had been linked with a January move to Manchester City, LIVERPOOL, Arsenal and Bayern Munich for his performances in that Palace shirt over the past few transfer windows.
The Reds remain interested in the England international after missing out on Guehi last summer, but as reported by the ECHO last week, they are concentrating their efforts on persuading the player to move when his deal expires at the end of the season.
However – reports in the media this week have claimed that Guehi will be looking for a wage of around £200,000-a-week when he starts to negotiate his move away from Palace this January or at the end of the season.
But it now seems that LIVERPOOL are set to miss out on Guehi as Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Manchester City have upped the ante in pursuit of Guehi, amid a pretty nasty injury crisis in their defence.
It’s reported that a contract has been proposed by City, with the 2023 European champions having also submitted a bid to Crystal Palace, believed to be in the region of £30m. If true, it would represent less than the £35m Palace were set to bank for Guehi’s signature in the summer window.
Whether Palace accept the bid remains to be seen, given reports from earlier in the month suggested they were holding out for more.

Guehi is a player that LIVERPOOL should be signing, he is perfect for them, and rather than adding him to the squad now, they will have to miss out and see him flourish at Man City, if the move happens.
He is ready for that next step, and to be honest, he could become world class working with pep Guardiola.
