Canadiens send Fowler and Beck to AHL Rocket, ending three goalie rotation

The Montreal Canadiens loaned goaltender Jacob Fowler and forward Owen Beck to the AHL’s Laval Rocket on Friday.

Assigning Fowler back to the Rocket ends the three-goaltender rotation the Canadiens have been using since the end of December.

Fowler has a 4-4-2 record with the Canadiens this season with a .902 save percentage and a 2.62 goals-against average. He was called by Montreal last month with both Sam Montembault and Jakub Dobes struggling.

Dobes, who has seen just two starts in 2026, has a 14-5-3 record this season with a .888 save percentage and a 3.01 GAA. Montembault is 8-6-2 with an .874 save percentage and a 3.35 GAA, but has a 3-0-1 record after returning from an AHL conditioning stint.

Beck has one goal in 15 games with the Canadiens this season. The 2022 second-round pick has one goal and two points in 28 career games with the team.

Fowler allowed four goals on 26 shots in a loss against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday and the Canadiens will look to rebound Saturday against another Atlantic Division rival in the Ottawa Senators.
