Marc Guehi’s transfer to Man City is reaching its final stages, taking him off the table for Liverpool in the summer. Arne Slot‘s squad, meanwhile, trained as normal at the AXA.
Marc Guehi to join Man City over Liverpool
Man City were anticipated to make a move for Guehi after injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias, but Liverpool were expected to react if they did – but they haven’t.
Instead, City have tabled a package worth £20 million plus bonuses and a sell-on clause, as per the Athletic‘s David Ornstein.
TalkSPORT‘s Alex Crook adds that Guehi will earn around £300,000 per week at the Etihad – and we all know that is a lot more than what Liverpool would have offered!

This Is Anfield understands that the club have not been tempted into a move this summer with it not seen as a market opportunity, as was the case last summer and would be again at season’s end.
It has left supporters, understandably, frustrated as Liverpool have failed to address a glaring need while their rival has signed one of their targets.
Giovanni Leoni aside, the last senior centre-back Liverpool signed was Ibrahima Konate. The year was 2021. Great squad planning, that.

• Alexis Mac Allister was notably absent from Liverpool’s training pictures on Friday, though this could be for various reasons. Slot said earlier in the day there were no new injuries, so we’ll just have to wait and see!
• After Conor Bradley‘s injury, Slot has insisted “everyone is aligned” over Liverpool’s needs, but that it does not mean the club “are going to act.” We wished they would!
• There were very blunt words for Calvin Ramsay from the head coach as he explained he has “better options” at right-back – he isn’t winning an award for man management
• Mo Salah will return early next week from his AFCON exploits and Slot says he is “happy” about it. Let’s hope the drama is behind us
• While the men’s team is to sit idle, Liverpool Women could potentially sign three more players this month to help their relegation fight (The Athletic)
• Liverpool’s FA Cup date vs. Brighton has now been confirmed, with the fourth round tie at Anfield to take place on Saturday, February 14 at 8pm – ANOTHER late kickoff!
How can Arne Slot solve right-back conundrum?
With Bradley out for the rest of the season, Sam Millne has taken a look at the right-back solutions Slot could turn to for the rest of the season.
“It’s an enormous blow” – that is how Slot described the loss of Bradley, who has undergone knee surgery following his injury sustained against Arsenal.
“The head coach has five potential options to replace the Northern Ireland international at right-back, but he has already said he doesn’t want to play one of them, Dominik Szoboszlai, though he may have no choice.
“From Jeremie Frimpong to Joe Gomez, an academy youngster and a potential signing, we look at how Slot could find a solution to Bradley’s absence.”
Football News: Oliver Glasner to leave Crystal Palace, PL transfers and bizarre Chelsea information
LONDON, ENGLAND - Saturday, September 27, 2025: Crystal Palace's manager Oliver Glasner before the FA Premier League match between Crystal Palace FC and Liverpool FC at Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace won 2-1. (Photo by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)
• Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will leave Crystal Palace at the end of his contract this summer, with the decision made “months ago” – was nice of him to threaten the club over Guehi, then…
• Nuno Espirito Santo has implied that James Ward-Prowse and Callum Wilson should “go and pursue their careers” having been cast aside at West Ham – are they really in a position to turn away players?
• Leeds have enquired about Wolves forward Jorgen Strand Larsen as they seek to bolster their options for their relegation battle, but no offer has yet been made (David Ornstein)
• As for a tidbit we thought we’d share, the *Mail*‘s look at **Chelsea**‘s new boss Liam Rosenior states he is “not wearing gloves so they (the team) can hear his applause.” We’ll leave that knowledge with you…
Liverpool FC: On this day

Happy birthday to Jayden Danns, who has turned 20 years old.
He was born on this January 16, 2006 and has a famous father, Neil Danns, who is the current Southport manager and played in midfield for no fewer than 16 clubs during his career!
Jayden is currently injured, suffering from hamstring problems in his young career, but he still has massive potential.
The forward already has three senior goals for Liverpool and will hopefully be a part of the first team once his injury issues subside.
