The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly the latest team to show interest in Ja Morant.
A new team has emerged in Ja Morant’s trade rumors as the NBA trade deadline approaches.
New Orleans Pelicans / Schedule
According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the New Orleans Pelicans are interested in acquiring the Memphis Grizzlies star.
“Despite the production dip, several teams have registered interest in trading for Morant recently, including the Heat, Bucks, Kings, Raptors, and Pelicans,” Scotto reports.
“Within league circles, there have been rumblings that Morant’s desire for months has been to land with the Miami Heat,” he adds.
Morant, 26, remains under contract through the 2027–28 season, giving the Grizzlies control over the process.
While the team has young talent to build around, including Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr., Memphis has not fully committed to either keeping Morant as the centerpiece or moving in a new direction.
The fit on the Pelicans would be interesting, as it would likely pair the top two picks from the 2019 draft, Zion Williamson and Ja Morant, forming an exciting and arguably the most athletic star duo in the league.
On the court, Morant has played 18 games this season, averaging 19.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 7.6 assists. The Grizzlies currently sit 10th in the Western Conference with a 17–23 record.
