Stan Kroenke is now the largest private landowner in the United States, according to a newly released Land Report ranking, with the Arsenal owner controlling about 2.7 million acres across the country.
Kroenke’s rise to the top spot follows a December purchase of nearly one million acres of ranchland in New Mexico from the family behind industrial conglomerate Teledyne, a deal that propelled him past the Emmerson family, which controls an estimated 2.44 million acres of timberland through Sierra Pacific Industries.
The Land Report said Kroenke’s total landholding is larger than Yellowstone National Park and roughly equal to about two million football fields.
The Singleton Ranches purchase was described as the largest US land acquisition in more than a decade.
Kroenke has also acquired other major ranches, including the Waggoner Ranch in North Texas, which he bought in 2016 for $725 million.
